Acne Removal

Acne afflicts teenagers as well as adults, but it is more common during times of high hormonal activity which causes increased sebum production. Acne typically appears on the face, neck, chest and back where these areas of skin have the most number of sebaceous glands. Acne results when sebaceous glands under the skin become clogged with sebum. When clogged, the glands can allow bacteria to grow. This causes swelling and pimples, and eventually may leave permanent scarring.

Regular maintenance of facial, laser and proper skincare regime can help to keep your face clean and clear.

  • What is carbon laser?

Charcoal carbon solutions and lasers can help to treat pigmentation, acne and refine pore size with minimal pain.

  • How does it work?

    • Step 1 – A layer of carbon lotion is applied on the entire face
    • Step 2 – Laser light is shot on the skin and is absorbed by the carbon lotion. Multiple tiny explosions of carbon particles release heat on the epidermal layer of skin, exfoliating the skin and removing any debris in the pores. The thermal effect of laser treatment reduces pore size, inflammatory acne, superficial acne scars, acne marks and stimulates collagen growth.
  • How long is the treatment?

The entire treatment will take approximately 10 minutes.

  • Is the treatment painful?

The treatment itself is painless and well-tolerated by most of the patients.

  • What can you expect from the treatment?

    • Reduce oil secretion
    • Smoother, clearer and brighter skin
    • Reduce oil pores

  • What is Pro Yellow Laser?

Pro Yellow Laser treats melasma, telangiectasia, rosacea, post acne erythema, acne, spider nevus, cherry angioma, venous lake, port wine stains or red spider veins. It allows fast, effective and safe treatments and reduces side effects. Less fluence is needed to achieve the expected results and, thanks to the lower melanin absorption (compared to 532 nm), it is also suitable for the treatment of darker skin types.

  • How does it work?

Port-wine stains, small strawberry marks, dilated capillaries and couperose skin: there is a wide range of conditions in which the structure of blood vessels changes, and many people suffer from them. QuadroStar Pro Yellow with 577 nm provide the ideal wavelengths for treatment of vascular lesions. The scanner with integrated skin cooling also allows faster treatment of areas of erythema in a procedure that reduces side effects and shortens the regeneration phase. The green wavelength is absorbed to a large extent by haemoglobin, the target structure for vascular treatments. The yellow wavelength is more selective and lies at the maximum absorption limit. The system allows fast, effective and safe treatments with few side effects. Less fluence is required for the same results and thanks to the lower level of melanin absorption in comparison to 532 nm, darker skin types can be treated with less damage.

  • Is the treatment painful?

You will feel little, superficial pricks, which however are not painful, but indicate the efficacy of the therapy.

  • How many treatments are required?

Results can be seen in 1 session especially for vascular conditions and skin rejuvenation. Pigmentation might require more than 1 treatment.

  • Is there any downtime?

Patients may experience some redness which usually goes away in 2-4 hours. Final treatment results should be evident within 10-14 days after treatment for vascular lesions and within 2-3 weeks after treatment for pigmented lesions. You may require multiple treatments to achieve desired results.

  • What causes acne scarring?

In severe acne, large pus-filled spaces known as acne cysts are formed. These cysts destroy skin tissue which is not replaced during the healing process.  When the cyst eventually empties and the area heals, it usually leaves behind an indentation (or scar) on the face.

  • Different types of scars

    • Box car acne scars – looks wider and shallower
    • Ice pick acne scars – Narrow and deep
    • Rolling, atrophic and depressed acne scars – Undulations and depressions on the skin
    • Mixed acne scars – Mixture of box car, ice pick and rolling scars
  • Acne Scar Treatment Options:

    • Fractional Laser – leaves areas of untreated skin intact while treating only a fraction of the skin’s surface.
    • Erbium and thulium laser – targeting skin rejuvenation, acne, acne scars and pores.
    • Picosecond Plus Laser – Signature laser with high pulse energy that breaks pigment into fragments
    • SmartXide Dot Laser – longer downtime but better results
    • TCA Cross – works best on ice pick scars
    • Subcision – Stimulate collagen synthesis and breaks the scar tissue
    • Fillers – restorative and reparative properties to treat acne scarring
    • Steriod Injections -To soften, shrink and flatten it
    • LED Phototherapy red light – Produce new collagen, revitalize skin cell and speed up healing process
    • Home care products – cleanser, moisturizer and topical medicated creams

Acne Scars

What are acne scars?
Acne scars are permanent textural changes and indentations that occur on the skin as a result of severe acne. The term “scarring” is not used for the temporary red and brown marks left early after acne has occurred as these marks will fade away itself.

  • How does it work?

The TCA causes cell death to the skin cells. These layers will then slough off and new tissues will form. Dermal collagen remodeling then follows and will continue for several months. The TCA cross method results in cumulative effect; since the skin is filled in gradually in each treatment, result improves with the number of treatments.

  • Benefits of TCA Cross

    • Collagen production
    • Dermal thickening
    • Depth of the scars reduced
  • Is the treatment painful?

Based on individual’s pain tolerance, most patients can tolerate the treatment without much discomfort. Some of them may feel a bit of stinging sensation.

  • How many treatments are required?

Depending on individual, scar location, scar depth and skin type, generally 2-4 sessions spaced about 1 month apart will give the best results.

  • Is there any downtime?

The frosting (white areas) will remain for up to 12 hours, and the surrounding skin will appear red and swollen for up to 24-48 hours.  Scab will form and eventually fall off in 3-7 days. It is important not to pick at the scab to allow healing and prevent further scarring.

Depending on patient’s acne scars condition, combination treatments such as laser resurfacing and subcision may be required in the process. We hear you, so we came up with our Acne Scars Control treatment. Do call in, if you would like to know more information on our available packages.

What is TCA Cross?

TCA Cross is the chemical reconstruction of skin scars using trichloroacetic acid. It is used on patients to treat atrophic scar and is particularly effective on ice-pick scars and pitted acne scars.
Types of acne scars include ice-pick scars, rolling scars, boxcar and hypertrophic scars.

  • How does it work?

Using a needle to insert beneath the scar, it will detach the fibrous bands, and release the scar from the tethering the scar downwards. The process also helps to stimulate collagen in the area of the scar.

  • Is the treatment painful?

Based on individual’s pain tolerance, location and depth of the scar, most people are able to tolerate the treatment with minimal discomfort. Topical anesthetic can be used prior to treatment to make the procedure comfortable.

  • Who is not suitable for subcision?

    • Patient who has history of keloid and hypertrophic scars
    • Existing skin infection
    • Oral retinoids for the last 12 months
    • Blood thinners medications
  • Is there any downtime?

The treated area may experience some swelling, bruising, soreness and redness after the procedure and it will go away in 5-7 days. Patients may resume normal activities after their treatment. It is advisable to minimize prolonged sun exposure and keep the treated area clean to avoid infection.

  • How many treatments are required?

Depending on the scar location, scar depth and skin type, one treatment will be able to see visible improvements. For moderate scarring, 2-4 sessions spaced about 4 weeks apart give the best results.

Depending on patient’s acne scars condition, combination treatments such as laser resurfacing and TCA Cross may be required in the process. We hear you, so we came up with our Acne Scars Control treatment. Do call in, if you would like to know more information on our available packages.
