Not all overweight people necessarily need CoolSculpting. CoolSculpting is designed for people who have unwanted fat in areas that persist even with weight loss through dieting and exercise. It is a good non-surgical alternative to liposuction.

CoolSculpting can be used in order to treat body areas and achieve a better looking figure using a treatment plan that your doctor will create with you. Some areas commonly targeted by CoolSculpting include the stomach, thigh, love handles, chin, back and areas around the buttocks.

During the treatment, there will be applicators with gel pads pressed against the area you want to remove fat from. The applicators will apply a vacuum to suck the fat into the cup. You might feel a mild pinching sensation at this point. A controlled cooling jet is then delivered to the area. You will feel an intense cold sensation but you will get used to it after 10 minutes when the area becomes numb. You can feel free to do some activities to pass the time like using the internet, reading a book or watching a video during this.

During the procedure you may experience deep pulling, tugging, pinching, numbness or discomfort. Following the procedure, typical side effects include temporary numbness, redness, swelling, bruising, firmness, tingling, stinging and pain. These effects are temporary and generally resolve within days or weeks. Rare side effects may also occur. The CoolSculpting procedure is not for everyone. You should not have the CoolSculpting procedure if you suffer from cryoglobulinemia or paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria. The CoolSculpting procedure is not a treatment for obesity. We will help you create an individualized treatment plan tailored to your specific goals. Most patients see results after one session but some treatment plans may require multiple sessions dependent on your desired results. You may start to see changes as quickly as three weeks after your treatment, and will experience the most dramatic results after two months. But your body will still flush out fat cells and continues doing so for up to four to six months after treatment.

Many people, after seeing the results from their CoolSculpting procedure, take even better care of themselves. However, if you do gain weight after your CoolSculpting procedure, you may gain it evenly all over your body, not just in the treated areas, so a healthy diet is highly recommended to keep the fat off.

CoolSculpting is one of the few treatments that patients can opt to do quicker than what is normal. You can request that your doctor use not one, but two CoolSculpting machines at the same time. This reduces treatment time and allows you to resume your daily activities quicker.
