Am I a good candidate for Skin Booster?Skinbooster treatment is suitable for everyone, regardless of skin type, or if the patient is young or mature. They can improve overall skin quality, deep skin hydration, improved skin elasticity, reducing fine lines and improving the smoothness of the skin texture — thus achieving the appearance of youthful skin. If cost is a concern, how doctor would usually advise the patients is to understand which targeted areas are the most required. As an arbitrary average, 2 mls of the skinbooster used will be enough to cover an Asian face. If you are considering skin boosters for the neck and surrounding areas, another 3 mls will be required. This however as stated before, is an arbitrary number that will vary from person to person — your doctor will be able to give you the best gauge and advice on the amounts required. The best advice we can give to each one of you considering skin boosters is to speak to your doctor about the concerns you may have, and what you had intended to achieve by coming for treatment. An open understanding between the patients and ourselves is what brings out the best in every treatment, since each and every person has different types of skin, skin condition and expectations. As such, the procedure for each person will need to be planned and tailored accordingly for the best results.
-
How many times will Skin Booster treatment be required?A traditional course of skinbooster treatment necessitates 3 consecutive monthly treatments followed by a maintenance skin booster treatment every 6 months. With newer skin booster treatments, results can last up to 9 months with just a single treatment.
-
Is there any downtime?Based on doctor's experience, using the injector device, downtime experienced is usually about 3 days since there are more injection sites from the device. The force of the injection is also higher when using the device and the risk of injection related side effects such as bruising is increased. With care and experience, a doctor using the manual injection method can reduce the number of injection points needed while attaining a similar effect with good planning. Skill in handling the injections will minimize the risk of injection related side effects and the manual method expects only a maximum downtime of 2 days. Occasionally, bruising in the top layers of skin may occur, and the symptoms can be alleviated with an anti-bruising pill medication to help blood vessels in the skin heal.

What happens during a consultation?During a consultation, doctor will assess your condition and understand your needs and concerns before recommending the best treatment options to you. Doctor will address your areas of concern, explain the procedures, potential risks, downtime and customise a complete treatment plan according to your condition, working schedule and budget. Before and after treatment photos are taken for documentation of treatment progress. As a medical director in Singapore, Dr Lim believes that every precaution must be taken before doctor commence with any sort of filler treatment. Doctor also believe that there no one-size-fits-all treatment option for a patient; every patient is different and time and effort must be spent examining the case so that the treatment protocol doctor decide on is the best one for you.
-
Is there a risk of side effects when during dermal fillers?Based on doctor's experience, severe side effects are rare when doing dermal fillers. Most patients will simply have some light bruising and swelling which will disappear after a while. However, there is a statistically low chance of more severe side effects occurring, such as skin necrosis. Skin necrosis can happen if an ulcer forms underneath the skin due to the insertion of the hyaluronic acid. Also, if there is a major disruption of blood flow due to the filler, there is a chance that skin necrosis might happen. A few years back in Singapore, there was also a case of blindness due to unforeseen complications that arose after a nose fillers procedure. This risk can be further amplified if you go to an unlicensed spa or beauty salon for fillers treatment. Although the procedures are cheaper, it is unlikely that the brand of fillers being used is HSA approved, leading to a greater risk of infection and unforeseen side effects.
-
What is done during treatment for Dermal Fillers?Topical numbing cream will be applied to the treatment areas prior to the filler injection to minimise discomfort. An appropriate amount of approved fillers are injected into the skin and subcutaneous tissues to achieve desired results. The safe technique, appropriate fillers, the optimal amount of fillers and precise injection area for fillers are the key points for a good clinical outcome. The techniques doctor use for a nose fillers treatment will be different from what doctor use in other forms of treatment. The whole process for fillers injections takes 10~20 minutes and it is well-tolerated by patients.
-
Is there any downtime? To ensure the good safety practices for face fillers, Dr Lim only use HSA approved fillers in MY Medical Aesthetics. By using approved fillers that go through the relevant safety protocols, doctor largely minimise the risk of any unforeseen side effects that might occur. Nose fillers, facial fillers or other sites injected with hyaluronic acid fillers may lead to injection-related side effects, such as redness, bruising, slight swelling or itching. This is considered to be expected and will heal naturally over 7-14 days.
